NEW ARTS EVENT PLANNED FOR DOWNTOWN

June will see the start of a new Arts event in downtown Mooresville. It will be a Social/Gallery crawl that is yet to be named. This new “happening” will take place every second Friday of the month starting in June.

Wayne McGuire says “There is a great deal of excitement in the Mooresville arts community about this event and the doors of the Depot Fine Arts Gallery will be open to welcome this new opportunity. We are looking for lots of energy to come to town!”  Look for art demonstrations, music, food, fun and lots of original art for sale. A great event for everyone!
More details coming.

ORPHAN WORKS BILL

Lori Neill has submitted information that is of interest to all artists. She urges all artists to ACT NOW to protect their rights as an artist. On April 24, 2008 congress re-introduced the Orphan Works Bill, originally introduced in 2006. A bill that could affect all independent artists rights of ownership and the way they are protected.

Orphan Works is a bill to provide a limitation on judicial remedies in copyright infringement cases involving orphaned works.  In short, artists would have to pay to own their own work along with a host of other inherent problems that could change your life as an artist.
