ORPHAN WORKS BILL |
Lori Neill has submitted information that is of interest to all
artists. She urges all artists to ACT NOW to protect their rights as
an artist. On April 24, 2008 congress re-introduced the Orphan Works
Bill, originally introduced in 2006. A bill that could affect all
independent artists rights of ownership and the way they are
protected. |
|
Orphan Works is a bill to provide a limitation on judicial remedies
in copyright infringement cases involving orphaned works. In short,
artists would have to pay to own their own work along with a host of
other inherent problems that could change your life as an artist. |

| PAINTING
IN TUSCANY |
Jean
Cauthen sent an email with the following information which may be
of interest to you: "I have been taking artists and
students from this area to paint the beautiful scenery of Italy for over 10
years. I will be teaching landcape painting in the Tuscany region
this Spring, May 31-June 7. The students will reside in a farmhouse
in the Chianti region in a valley overlooking the medieval towers of
Siena about 10 miles away. The group will enjoy meals prepared by an
in-house chef. In addition to plein-air painting, the artists will
travel to Siena and other nearby towns and also enjoy winery tours.
Jean works and teaches oil paint, but painters proficient in other
media are welcome as well. The class is open to any level of
painter. The workshop is organized by Il Chiostro,
